Andrea Bortolotti

Andrea Bortolotti holds a degree in architecture (University IUAV of Venice) and is currently PhD candidate at the Faculty of Architecture La Cambre-Horta (ULB), in Brussels. Since 2011 he is also member of Latitude, platform for urban research and design, based in Brussels. His main research topics concern urban metabolism and the relationship between urban design and ecology. In particular, he is investigating urban waste recycling through a research-by-design on organic material flows in Brussels. He has gained expertise on territorial planning and strategic design working on a number of design assignments and through the collaboration with multidisciplinary research groups (Department of Urban Studies, Politecnico di Milano; Laboratory of Urbanism Infrastructure and Ecology, ULB). Besides that, he has experience in workshops which involve wider on-site stakeholder participation in order to build up local knowledge on spatial issues in environmental management and urban planning.
