Hadley Arnold

Hadley Arnold leads the Arid Lands Institute, a center dedicated to new tools for planners and designers solving water-supply challenge in drylands. Through research, teaching, and public impact programs, ALI brings designers together with scientists, policy makers, and citizens to test new approaches to water-smart design of the built environment.

ALI has built collaborations between leading architecture and engineering firms, public agencies, university science and policy teams, and design programs in 30 states and around the world. ALI’s research and programs have been recognized by the AIA |Los Angeles, the Holcim Foundation, the Buckminster Fuller Institute, and AIA College of Fellows 2015 Latrobe Prize.

Hadley earned her AB from Harvard College and M.Arch from SCI-Arc. She has taught at SCI-Arc, UCLA, and Woodbury, and lectured extensively. Her teaching interests lie in hydrologic urbanisms, ancient and modern; she particularly loves advising thesis students.
