Kathleen John–Alder

Kathleen John–Alder is Assistant Professor in the Department of Landscape Architecture at Rutgers University.  Kathleen’s design work has received numerous professional awards, including an Award of Excellence from the Van Alan Institute and the National Park Service, and National Honor Awards in Design and in Research from the American Society of Landscape Architects. A recent Landscape Fellow at Dumbarton Oaks, her scholarly research explores environmentalism in the discourse of mid-twentieth century landscape design and its impact upon contemporary practice. Kathleen has published articles in Landscape Journal, The Journal of Planning History, JOLA, Studies in the History of Gardens and Designed Landscapes, Site/Lines and Manifest.
